Red Dot Design Award 2021
UNBELIEVABLE - our platzhirsch and our designer and CEO Sebastian Meinecke have been awarded the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021 in the category Bicycle Design. As one of 50 young professionals, designer Sebastian Meinecke beat the competition and secured one of the coveted free tickets to one of the world's largest design competitions.
The "Red Dot" award is the internationally respected seal of design excellence and attracts more than 18,000 designers, companies and organizations from over 70 nations every year.
The Red Dot Award: Product Design, which has existed in its origins since 1955, identifies the best products of each year. Manufacturers and designers from all over the world can enter their designs for the competition in around 50 categories. On Young Professionals Application Day, young designers who graduated no more than five years ago have the opportunity to apply for one of 50 free registration slots. True to the motto "In search of good design and innovation," the Red Dot jury evaluates all submissions and awards the Red Dot only to products that impress with their good design quality. The Red Dot Jury consists of around 50 international experts. They test, discuss and evaluate each submission individually. The products are not in direct competition with each other, but are evaluated individually. While the constellation of the jury changes annually, one thing always remains the same: All members commit to the "Code of Honour", which states that they may not participate in the evaluation of products they have had a hand in creating.
We couldn't be prouder that after our Stadtfuchs, which won the Red Dot Award: Product Design Best of the Best in 2019, now our Platzhirsch - the first 3D printed urban e-bike - has also won a Red Dot Award.
